My cat seems to have a problem chewing on everything! She chews and eats whatever she can get her paws on including the metal from my kitchen chairs, paper, rubber bands, and anything else she can find. Recently, she has had a fascination with my new gel bike seat. I have tried spraying her and the objects with lemon juice, dousing her with water, grabbing the back of her neck, and hitting the top of her nose. I feel as though I can't keep anything from her. She even gets sick from eating rubber bands and other objects. I don't know what else to do, and I'm worried about her health. Please help!!! Thanks!

This is a disease called "pica". This is the name given to a dog or cat who ingests unnatural objects that animals are not meant to ingest (such as socks, toilet paper, your children's toys or anything else found around the house). This problem poses a serious health threat to your animal and requires your attention. The cause can be medical or neurological. Your veterinarian can do some tests to rule out medical conditions and help with the behavioral issues.
