PARASITES

Thank you for your time on this matter. I am a avid rabbit hunter and field trailer. My kennel consists of fourteen beagles ranging in age from six years to eight weeks. When I go running the hounds it seems like my dogs spend a large amount of time trying to for the lack of a better word crap. They seem to do a lot of straining and I've notice a watery substance being discharged not in large amounts but is seems strange for this to be happening. I worm with ivomec monthly and every other month I use liquid safeguard on them. they have been on this for two years and the hounds seem to be real healthy. Is this something to be alarmed about?
It sounds like you deworm them too much, but that does not usually cause diarrhea or excess stool. The type of food and the ingredients will cause your problems, though. Feed a name brand food that is not filled with empty fillers. Also, feed a food that is for active dogs when they are hunting.
We have a liter of 8 new GSD puppies. They are healthy, happy and playful. They have weaned and are on Purina One lamb and rice puppy formula. The problem is, they continue to have very lose stools and quite heavy output. Is this normal or should the stools be firmer? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
They may have a parasite like coccidia or giardia. Or simply a worm infestation. Take a fresh stool sample to your veterinarian.
Can I get chiggers and poison ivy from my indoor/outdoor cats? Thank You.
Animals are not susceptible to chiggers or poison ivy.  You CAN get poison ivy from your pet only if they carry the oil on their coat and you rub against their coat.
